We welcomed Finnegan (Finn) Noah Baker on May 5, 2019. He was a bit early at 36 weeks and needed some time to adjust to his abruptly altered reality, but he is doing great now. He weighed in at a whopping 7 pounds 7 ounces as a preemie, so he had enough reserves to get him through the rough patch. He had some respiratory distress that manifested as grunting and whimpering for about 24 hours straight (see video) and he had no interest in feeding.
He finally figured out that food was fun and started eating. This was a huge milestone, as he lost 11% of his body weight in the hospital and his disinterest in eating meant he couldn't go home. He was hours away from needing a feeding tube when it all seemed to click for him.
Once he figured out food was fun, he turned into Shark Baby!
And rapidly plumped up...
And is now pretty much one contented little (big) guy.
