Sock knitting is addicting, partly because socks come together pretty quickly compared to other projects and because there is so much room for creativity in a simple sock. There are lots of incredible sock patterns out there using many techniques. Yvette Noel of Rose Hiver Designs has two of my favorites--Butterflies are free (covered in an earlier post) and Water for the Elephants.
After my disappointing experience with the yarn/pattern mix for Butterflies are free (yarn was great, pattern was great--just not great together), I decided to try a different Rose Hiver Designs pattern that I had admired for some time using a very springy merino superwash instead.

It is so fun to watch a pattern develop from hundreds of tiny stitches. Here is my version of Water for the Elephants made from Drops Baby Merino Superwash in navy and lime green:
