Ravelry for Sewists?

Sewers need their own Ravelry-type site. Sewing Pattern Review is a great site, but it lacks some of the critical funcationality (database for cataloging patterns and materials, etc) and it is not as user-friendly. Then again, Ravelry has been hailed by both tech and social media journalists as a premiere example of how social media and special interest technology should work, so it is unique even in this very niche area of online activity.

Ravelry allows you to exchange and/or purchase knitting/crocheting/weaving/felting patterns, store and organize your patterns--even those purchased elsewhere, catalong your needles and other tools, upload your yarn stash complete with photos and link stored yarn to specific patterns, exchange or purchase yarn from commercial sites or other users, upload photos of your ongoing and completed projects and track progress online, and interact with other users, pattern designers and product manufacturers all in one place. New patterns and projects are added all the time and it is the one site I visit daily, without fail.

I've been a Ravelry member since 2010. It is free to join, even if you don't knit or crochet. Here is my profile.
